Washington County School District is one of the fastest growing districts in Utah, serving over 21,000 students. Year-round education is a successful and money saving approach for elementary students at twelve schools. With the introduction of an "alternative high school", there are no longer real "dropouts" in Washington County. While the national drop out rate remains at about 30 percent, it is only about 6 percent locally. All district schools participate in drug free school programs that emphasize strong student self worth. Dixie College has an average enrollment of more than 5,000 students. The setting is spectacular with warm weather year-round. The college provides excellent opportunities in Liberal Arts, Business, Vocational and Natural Sciences. Dixie College is presently a two year institution with some Bachelor programs offered through a campus University Center. The future of Dixie College is changing rapidly, right now, plans are in place to make it a complete four year institution.

The Hurricane Council consists of five members serving four year terms. The terms overlap with two elected at on election and three at another. City elections are held every odd numbered year. The council members each have assignments over departments of the city. Listed below are the council assignments.
